Tuesday 30th April - walk ***** – RHS Wisley Gardens – sunny and warm then.

Our last day I Surrey and we walk Arlo to school with his mum in bight sunshine, just a few tears as he goes in, he said he will miss us:( we will have to go again soon! Then we spend a lovely couple of hours chatting with Hannah and Robert before its time to set off to RHS Wisley, a treat from Robert:) The van is playing up, it keeps missing with no power and we really struggled to get up the steep hill at newlands Corner but we made to the gardens at Wisley and struggled to find a parking space as every pensioner in the south had descended here! Once in the wonderful garden we quickly discovered that most of the visitors were more interested in the cafes than plants as we turned right through the Pinetum with some amazing pine trees with a carpet of bluebells, all set against a blue sky with some top clouds:) Reaching the end we turned, found a bird hide with noisy parakeets on the feeders and then followed the River Wye until we found a brilliant spot by the waters edge to have our picnic in a swinging seat! Well rested to continue past a lake with more large carp which Mag fed her crust before continuing to the huge glasshouse with a vast aray of tropical plants set next to another lake. Then onto the view mount and through the large orhard area to the round allotments where we bought cake and coffee from the World food café and had it o the roof terrace:) Getting knackered now we were on the last part as we headed through the woods with loads of magnolia and down the to large house with its formal fountain and wisteria arch. Then Mag bought a small acer tree for £20, money from Mary and a reminder of our top day. Then back to the van after walking well over 5 miles today and then the nightmare begain as we queued to get out and the M 25 was like acar park as we slowly made our way to the Dartford crossing, thank goodness we don’t do much motorway travelling these days but we made it home safe and sound in the end with our van making it home, we will have to get it checked out at the garage! We had the most wonderful time and it was great to sleep in our little van again!
